कर्नाटक विधानसभा चुनाव की तारीख समय से पहले ट्वीट और उसके बाद डिलीट कर भारतीय जनता पार्टी आईटी सेल प्रमुख अमित मालवीय सवालों के घेरे में हैं। चुनाव आयोग कह चुका है कि वह इस प्रकरण की जांच करेगा। हालांकि मालवीय ने जो ट्वीट किया उसमें आधी जानकारी गलत दी गई थी। मालवीय ने ट्वीट में कहा था कि मतदान 12 मई को व चुनाव के नतीजों की घोषणा 18 मई को की जाएगी। चुनाव आयोग की प्रेस कॉन्फ्रेंस में मुख्य निर्वाचन आयुक्त ओ.पी.रावत ने संवाददाताओं से कहा, मतदान 12 मई को व नतीजों की घोषणा 15 मई को की जाएगी।
पत्रकारों ने सवाल पूछने शुरू किए तो अमित मालवीय ने अपना यह ट्वीट डिलीट कर दिया। इसके बाद उन्हें ट्विटर ट्रोल्स ने घेर लिया। मालवीय से ठीक एक मिनट पहले टाइम्स नाउ चैनल ने भी ऐसी ही तारीखें ‘ब्रेकिंग न्यूज’ की तरह चलाई थीं, उसे भी लोगों के गुस्से का सामना करना पड़ा।

चुनाव आयोग की विश्वसनीयता को ये सीधी चुनौती है।प्रश्न यह है-

चुनाव आयोग के अनुसार, कर्नाटक विधानसभा चुनाव अधिसूचना की तारीख 17 अप्रैल है और नामांकन दाखिल करने की अंतिम तारीख 24 अप्रैल है। नामांकन पत्रों की जांच 25 अप्रैल को होगी और नाम वापस लेने की अंतिम तिथि 27 अप्रैल है। मुख्य निर्वाचन आयुक्त ने कहा कि राज्य में तत्काल प्रभाव से आदर्श आचार संहिता लागू हो गई है, जो केंद्र सरकार के लिए भी लागू होगी।
कर्नाटक विधानसभा में 224 सीटें है। विधानसभा का कार्यकाल 28 मई को समाप्त हो रहा है। वर्तमान में कांग्रेस राज्य की सत्ता में है। काग्रेस के पास 122 व भाजपा के पास 43 सीटें है।
