BRICS Summit 2024: प्रधानमंत्री मोदी ने ब्रिक्स शिखर सम्मेलन में अपने संबोधन के दौरान रूस और यूक्रेन के बीच शत्रुता समाप्त करने की भारत की स्थिति को दोहराया। मोदी ने ये टिप्पणी कज़ान में रूसी राष्ट्रपति व्लादिमीर पुतिन के साथ द्विपक्षीय बैठक के दौरान की, जो जुलाई के बाद उनकी दूसरी बातचीत थी। इस बैठक में यूक्रेन संघर्ष के अलावा रक्षा, व्यापार, निवेश में द्विपक्षीय सहयोग और ब्रिक्स समूह के विस्तार जैसे मुद्दों पर भी चर्चा हुई। मोदी और पुतिन के बीच आपसी हंसी-मजाक भी हुआ, जो उनकी करीबी दोस्ती का संकेत था। पुतिन ने कहा, “हमारे बीच इतने अच्छे संबंध हैं कि मुझे लगा कि आपको किसी अनुवाद की जरूरत नहीं होगी… मैं आपका आभारी हूं कि आप कज़ान आने का निमंत्रण स्वीकार किया।” मोदी ने जवाब में कहा कि तीन महीनों में रूस की उनकी दूसरी यात्रा “हमारे करीबी समन्वय और गहरी मित्रता को दर्शाती है।”
PM Modi’s remarks at the summit were a reiteration of India’s stated position that Russia and Ukraine should end hostilities. Modi made the remarks at a bilateral meeting with Putin on the margins of the Brics Summit in the Russian city of Kazan, their second interaction since July. Besides the conflict with Ukraine, issues such as bilateral cooperation in defence, trade and investment, and the expansion of the Brics grouping figured in the meeting.
Putin and Modi also engaged in banter that pointed to their close relationship. Putin said: “We have such a relationship that I felt you do not need any translation… I am very grateful to you for accepting the invitation to come to Kazan.” Modi responded by saying that his two visits to Russia in three months “reflect our close coordination and deep friendship”.
