The school picnic, with a group of children in Gujarat’s Vadodara, took a fatal turn on January 18 when the boat they were on sank in Harni Motnath Lake. The students, who were on a picnic, had gone boating when the unfortunate incident occurred. According to officials, 12 schoolchildren and two teachers lost their lives in the mishap. The tragic incident unfolded in apparent violation of safety norms as the boat was overcrowded and none of them was given life jackets. Rescue and relief operations are currently in progress as authorities work tirelessly to save lives and provide assistance to those affected.
