We are back with the chase! The two umpires make their way into the middle followed by the Mumbai fielders. It will be David Warner and Prithvi Shaw to open the innings for Delhi with the bat. Akash Madhwal is the impact substitute coming in for Suryakumar Yadav. Gerald Coetzee is handed the new ball and will start the proceedings for Mumbai. Away we go..

… THE RUN CHASE …

Rishab Pant's decision of opting to bowl first appeared to backfire as the Mumbai batters launched a ferocious assault right from the start, catching the Delhi pacers off guard. Despite the introduction of spin during the powerplay, the flow of runs continued unabated, leaving Delhi trailing in the early stages of the game. It was then Axar Patel who finally broke through for Delhi soon after the powerplay, providing the crucial breakthrough of Rohit Sharma, which was swiftly followed by Anrich Nortje's dismissal of the dangerous Suryakumar Yadav for a duck. Subsequently, the Delhi bowlers managed to regain control, tightening their lines and lengths to restrict the flow of boundaries. Their disciplined approach in the middle overs prevented the Mumbai batters from scoring freely up until the 15th over. The bowlers then lost track conceding 96 runs in the last 5 overs with Anrich Nortje being smoked for 32 runs off the last over of the innings. With momentum against them, Delhi will have to come all guns blazing to stand a chance to chase this big total of 235 runs down. Will they be able to get through? Or will Mumbai continue their onslaught with the ball and register their first win of this season? We shall soon find out as the chase comes to you in a bit.

Tim David is up for a chat. He says that it was pretty exciting to be at the other end and watch Romario hit the ball. Adds that things haven't been going their way so they had to go hard and all that momentum Romario gardened in the final over is crucial. Reckons that the wicket did slow up a bit and hence, that final over is even more important. On that ball that almost hit his face, he says that he was scared that it might smash right in and ends by joking that it is definitely the first three he has got at the Wankhede.

Romario Shepherd's explosive cameo, scoring 39 runs off just 10 deliveries, has significantly bolstered Mumbai's innings, enabling them to post a commanding total of 234 runs on the scoreboard which the skipper, Hardik Pandya will be mighty pleased about. After being put in to bat first, Mumbai's opening duo of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan launched a blistering assault on the Delhi bowlers right from the outset. Their aggressive strokeplay confounded the field placements, allowing them to establish a formidable foundation of 75 runs by the conclusion of the powerplay. With Rohit Sharma's departure at a well-crafted 49 runs, Mumbai suffered a temporary setback as the returning Suryakumar Yadav fell for a duck, losing two wickets in quick succession. Although Hardik Pandya managed to find occasional boundaries, the middle overs witnessed a slowdown in run-scoring as Mumbai lost a couple more wickets including Ishan Kishan who looked good, enabling Delhi to claw their way back into the game. However, a pivotal 60-run partnership between Tim David and the skipper provided Mumbai with a much-needed boost. It was then Tim David and Romario Shepherd who put up a 53-run partnership off 16 balls that propelled Mumbai to a mammoth total of 234 runs.

Anrich Nortje is distraught but what a knock that is from Shepherd, 39 off just 10 balls. Mumbai finish with a huge total of 234/5 on the board!

Mumbai were 75/0 at the end of the first 6 overs but Delhi, led by Axar Patel have pulled things back remarkably conceding 63 runs in the next 9 overs and picking up 4 wickets as well. However, there are still 5 overs left and Hardik Pandya is well set and has Tim David for company as well. With more firepower to come, expect Mumbai to come hard at the bowlers and Delhi will be hoping that the aggressive nature brings about more wickets for them. Strategic break! Mumbai has stormed off to a sensational start, laying a solid foundation courtesy of an impressive opening partnership that amassed a formidable 80 runs before Rohit Sharma was dismissed. With the platform firmly established, Mumbai will be eager to capitalize on this momentum and set their sights on a substantial total. Delhi after a rocky start have managed to break the partnership and will now look to claw their way back into the game that has drifted far away from them. With that, Suryakumar Yadav comes to bat at number 3 for Mumbai while Delhi bring in Anrich Nortje to bowl his first over.
